I don't know if anyone here can help, but I'm getting tired of EA's circles.

I can't join any games. I can select a server (and create a sing;e-player playlist with bots) but when I click join, the screen flashes, and the game crashes me to the desktop. EA insists to update drivers, but the don't get any more updated than what I have.

I have Vista, if that makes a difference to the suggestions.

A reinstall will fix it I'm sure but that might be an extreme to some of the other fixes that are out there. Are you running it as administrator?

It's set to always run as admin, and this is a very fresh install. The only addons are the 1.5 patch and punkbuster services.

Make sure your firewall is configured properly and try using my PB folder to fix the next issue you would have gotten.

Delete your current pb folder in battlefield 2142 and use mine (see attached). Wouldn't hurt trying new drivers and make sure you use official ones... =D

although you guys said some good things
EA got so many complaints (including me, i unfortunately owned the game since it was released)
this is the way to manually uninstall this game to make sure nothing is left behind
then reinstall it and you should have a fresh install

i would try everything they have listed and of course always install the latest patch
also you can try uninstalling it with revounistaller

PS also try defragging the hard drive if uninstalling it did not fix your issue

I had an issue somewhat similar.

I did fix mine, but you have to completely uninstall, reinstall the core game, (install northern strike if you have it), install 1.40, then 1.50 in that order. 2142 is pretty glitchy, and I have had to reinstall several times

I also had another problem once and it would lock up, or just not play right, and also got NVIDEA driver failure notices and that was hardware related... gamecard failure. Only solution to that is buy a new one, but they are pretty cheap anymore for something decent.
